Why Leap Before Looking?

Well, to be honest, I have contemplated writing a blog for several years.  It is one of those desires God placed on my heart that has been laying dormant.  I bet if you look back over the past few years, you too may have a few of those God-desires…that just sit there…that you never quite get to.  Why?  Is life too busy, too hectic to do all the things you feel led to do?  Are you too lazy or too afraid or too full of excuses to follow through?  Perhaps it is all of these things. Perhaps that is why we have to Leap Before Looking.

Growing up in the South, I loved to dream of far off places and one day, I knew I would get to those places.  I never knew HOW but I always knew that I WOULD.  We all can say, “One day, when I have the time” or “When I have the money” or “When my children are grown and out of the house” I will do what God has placed on my heart.

I have realized that it really never is the right time.  We only have right now and if we continue to wait until everything is deemed perfect in our eyes, we will never LEAP.

God’s Word tells us to “Be strong and courageous, Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord Your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9  The Bible also tells us “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

These 2 verses are critical to our everyday life, apply to every area of our lives, and personally, give me the encouragement I need to pursue everything He places in my heart, mind, and soul.  He is with me.  I don’t have to be scared.  He gives me to the power and love that I need to do whatever it is that He asks.  God even gives me the self-discipline to do it.  So, here goes!
